Internship

My last semester is finally here! Such a bittersweet moment. During our last semester we are required to put in at least 320 hours of interning. After a great deal of research finding the perfect fit for me, I find a place. The interview is scheduled and the nervous jitters automatically set in. After a small tour and presentation of my projects from the past four semesters, it's decision time. Did I get the internship? YES, I did. I will be focusing on Kitchen Design at Village Design Group located in Southern Pines, NC. I will be spending the majority of my life this semester interning in what I absolutely adore, love, and puts a smile on my face just thinking about it!

REVIVE Hotel

During our Fall 2012 Semester in Commercial II, we were assigned to design a hotel. We were to choose a concept to design off of. I choose Botanical Rejuvenation. The assignment was to start with an 8,000 square foot exterior building shell and then to space plan the interior by designing the floor plan and then to design the Lobby, Restaurant, and either a Boutique or Spa. REVIVE hotel is located off the beautiful shorelines of Costa Rica. I broke my concept into three separate concepts, the Lobby was designed around the Papaya fruit, the Restaurant around the Dragon fruit and the Spa was around the Kiwi fruit. Throughout the spaces I created a soothing environment with warm, rich tones and then adding bright pops of color through accent walls, furniture, and finishes.
